ISRA Thursday Bulletin - August 27, 2020 by Richard Pearson Somehow the summer is slipping by more rapidly than normal. The 1 st of September will be here soon and with it comes dove season. I consider dove hunting one of the more challenging and enjoyable of the hunting seasons. A few years ago, I went to Argentina dove hunting. I have to say it wasn’t a very good dove shot at the beginning but I was much better by the end of the trip. That trip was really a safari. A bird boy is assigned to each hunter and they tally every shot. The first day I was limping along with a 25% hit ratio. There were 23 of us in the hunting party and each night everyone’s hit ratio went up on a board for all to see. The good news is I wasn’t last. By the last day of the four-day trip I was at 75%. Doves are a pest in Argentina. We were in Cordoba Province and doves eat an estimated 50,000 bushels of grain a day in that province alone. The farmers were glad to see us. We ate dove every day for lunch and the bird boys took the rest to their families and villages and shared them with everyone. They are very poor there so they were glad to have the meat. At the end of four days, I was in the upper middle of the pack with 1794 doves. In all, we killed over 44,000 doves. Author: Lori (Admin) 0 Comments ISRA Thursday Bulletin - August 20, 2020 by Richard Pearson A three judge panel of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has upheld a lower court ruling that California’s ban on so-called high capacity magazines is a violation of the Second Amendment. While the case, known as Duncan v. Becerra, brought a favorable ruling, it will still have to go to the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) to become the law of the land. I have talked several times about the weakness of the SCOTUS. This case will be caught in the clog of cases being held up for that reason. The only chance this case has is if Donald Trump is re-elected as President of the United States. The General Election is only 73 days away. Author: Lori (Admin) 0 Comments ISRA Thursday Bulletin - August 13, 2020 by Richard Pearson As rioters continue to control the streets of Chicago and other major cities, the mayors of these cities and their respective legislative bodies do nothing. They simply don’t really care, are visionless, or on the side of the rioters. This has gone so far that at this point it may not matter. If this continues, these cities will become shells and turn into Petri dishes for all sorts of evil, if they haven’t already. These gangs that roam unobstructed will eventually cannibalize the cities and spill out into surrounding areas that were once peaceful neighborhoods, suburbs, villages, towns and smaller cities. Eventually, we will all have to face them. It is better to prepare for a storm and not have one than not prepare and get one. To dither and say “I hope” is a poor strategy. People who depend on hope rather than action aren’t worth much in my view. Author: Lori (Admin) 0 Comments ISRA Thursday Bulletin - August 6, 2020 by Richard Pearson On August 6, 1945, the United States dropped the first of two atomic nomads on Japan. The first was on Hiroshima and the second was August 9 on Nagasaki. Japan surrendered the next day. Being the eternal history fanatic, I watched a special on those two events a few nights ago. It followed the same pattern of a couple of others in previous years. There was a Japanese woman talking about how terrible it was. Since there were no American soldiers who talked about how terrible the Japanese were, I will. Author: Lori (Admin) 0 Comments ISRA Thursday Bulletin - July 30, 2020 by Richard Pearson The saga of Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner’s treachery in prosecuting Mark and Patricia McCloskey has taken another turn. Apparently, the pistol Patricia McCloskey was holding was used in a previous court case and had been rendered inoperable so it could be brought into court. It, therefore, was not a weapon. Kim Gardner and her enterprising staff had the crime lab fix the gun so it was capable of being fired. This was done to bring charges against the McCloskeys. I’m going to guess this wasn’t the first time this was done in the Circuit Attorney’s office. It sounds like the McCloskeys need to hire a snake charmer as well as an attorney. Meanwhile, I have heard George Soros, who financed Gardner’s campaign, has left the United States. No one seems to know where he went. While tha...
